LEGO Serious Play™

LEGO SERIOUS PLAY™ (LSP) is a facilitated thinking, communication and problem-solving technique supported by extensive research from the fields of business, organisation development, psychology and learning.

Based on the concept of "hand knowledge”, this workshop approach moves participants away from endless discussions, where some participants dominate, and others fade into the background. Instead, LSP levels the playing field, engaging 100% attention and participation. Participants use a carefully chosen selection of LEGO® bricks and elements and a unique process where people "think through their fingers" - unleashing insight, imagination and collaboration.

LSP is based on the understanding that:

  • Leaders don't have all the answers. Team success is dependent on hearing all the voices in the room.

  • People naturally want to contribute, collaborate, and take ownership.

  • Allowing each member to contribute and speak out results in stronger engagement and results.

The LSP highly tailorable approach can be used to support individual and organisational priorities such as:

  • LSP enhances team building by promoting trust and mutual understanding through interactive model building. It breaks down barriers, supports open exchanges, perspective taking and the alignment of individual and organisational objectives.

  • LSP aids leadership development by helping leaders reflect on their styles, experiences and challenges through model building. It provides insights for further leadership development and fosters deeper team connections.

  • LSP stimulates creativity in innovation and product/service development by allowing teams to visualise and iterate on ideas. This hands-on approach fosters experimentation and rapid prototyping.

  • LSP supports problem solving and decision making by helping participants uncover root causes, explore solutions, and evaluate impacts. It encourages diverse perspectives and informed, consensual decisions.

  • LSP facilitates change management by visualising current and desired states, promoting shared understanding and buy-in, and identifying obstacles and enablers for successful implementation.

  • LSP aids in visualising and exploring strategic issues and future scenarios, fostering a shared understanding and alignment on vision and goals. It encourages creative thinking and robust strategy formulation.
